More research needed:

In 1798 Susanna Candler, the wife of Edward Candler, was removed from Thorpe-le-Soken and sent back to Little Clacton. I have only seen the index to this event so far.

According to a surname project based at the University College in London the name of Candler is derived from an English occupation. The surname was mainly found in the counties of Essex and Yorkshire with smaller concentrations in other parts of England.
